Faithworks in Northampton

Click on Write and give the entry a Title. In the Post entry text-area you can then add a description of the file, or notes to go along with the audio.

Follow the steps below to add an MP3 audio file into your post.

NOTE: The same process is used to upload images, word documents and PDFs files.

1. Click Browse… (locate on your hard drive, the file you want to put online).

2. Give it a Title.

3. Write a Description (This is optional)

4. Click Upload.

5. Select Link to File and then…

6. Click Send to editor >>

7. A link to your file will now appear within the post entry text-area.

8. Users who view the final post will be able to download this file. There will even be a “music” icon next to the link, to indicate that what the link is.

Adding an MP3 player into your post!

You may want to add an mp3 player into your post, so that viewers can play the file direct in their browser.

You can discover the direct link to your audio file by clicking Code above the textarea toolbar.

Make a note of the link to you mp3, which will look something like this: http://www.faithworksnorthampton.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/file.mp3

Then, wherever you want the player to appear in your post, add the following code, replacing the link with the actual link to your file:

This will produce an mp3 player on your page, like this:

Including this entry on your Resources page

This couldn’t be easier! Simply tick the Resources check-box under the categories options on the right.

If you don’t add this selection, the post will not display on the Resources page. However, any post that is specified as Resources, with a tick in the appropriate check-box, will appear on the resources page, regardless of the actual content.

This is a particularly useful option, allowing you to include any other post (e.g. on the archives page) on the Resources page.

For example, if you wanted to include the results of the Northampton Research survey. You would edit this page, and tick the Resources category box, (as well as the archives one).

Saving and Posting

The Save and Continue Editing button allow you to save as you go. Save is if you do not want to publish the page but will edit it later. If you are happy with your piece and it is ready to be posted on the website, click Publish.
